Spider Veins & Redness Reduction
An extremely common condition, telangiectasia is the dilation of blood vessels near the surface of the skin, resulting in the appearance of small red spots resembling pin pricks. Aatman Wellness & Medispa has the training and the advanced spider vein treatment technology to effectively address the condition, helping you remove unsightly discolouration on the face or anywhere on the body.
Telangiectasia can affect any part of the body, but is commonly seen on the legs, neck and facial area. Using the latest in cosmetic laser therapy devices, we restore the appearance of the skin to its previous colour and texture, helping people regain the confidence to wear the clothes they love.
How does Spider Vein treatment work?
Careful analysis of the vein is essential – especially for the leg – as spider veins can be a sign of a deeper problem or underlying venous disease. Should the problem be merely cosmetic, we can proceed with laser treatment. The Cutera laser is a non-invasive light therapy device specifically designed to eliminate undesired blood vessels from all parts of the body. The Cutera laser generates a pulse of intense, concentrated light which is directed through a small, cooled hand piece which is gently applied to the treatment site. This heat from the laser seals off the veins, reducing signs of redness quickly and effectively with minimum recovery time.
What are the risks of spider vein removal?
Short-term side effects may include a reddening of the skin over the treated vessels or local swelling which typically lasts less than a day, although it may infrequently last a few days. Occasionally there can be hyper or hypo pigmentation in the treated area but generally resolves itself after several months.
How many treatments are needed?
The number of spider vein treatments will depend on:
- the desired degree of blood vessel reduction
- hormonal status
- area being treated
Typically, one or two Spider Vein treatment are needed for facial vessels; and three or four treatments may be needed on the legs. Treatment can be done every 4-6 weeks on the face and legs.
Does it hurt?
You may feel a tingling or snapping sensation like a rubber band. There is no bleeding and no open wound. While some areas of the body like the nose are more sensitive than others, most client report little or no discomfort. It is advised that post treatment care be followed to reduce any discomfort following treatment.
What happens after treatment?
A mild tingling akin to a sunburn can be felt on the affected area immediately after treatment, but this can be controlled with over-the-counter painkillers such as Panadol and applying icepacks to the area. Swelling and some scabbing can occur in the first two to three days after, but will quickly subside.
Clients are advised to avoid exposure to harsh sunlight in the first four weeks after treatment to protect against hyper pigmentation of the treated area. Exercise is to be avoided for the first 48 hours straight after treatment and patients should consult with their aesthetician regarding whether their current skincare regime is suitable for the treated area.
Work and normal activities can be returned to immediately. Results from the treatment can become apparent within two to six weeks. Multiple treatments spaced four to six weeks apart may be necessary to achieve optimum results.
